Root Canal Treatment (RCT)
Save Your Natural Tooth—Comfortably and Honestly
Hearing the words root canal can make anyone anxious. We understand that. Sometimes, the worry begins even before you enter the clinic: Will it hurt? Will I need an injection? What exactly will the dentist do?
At White Castle Dental Clinic, Dr Nikhil Trikane and our dental team explain everything before beginning the treatment, so you know exactly what your tooth needs and what will happen during the procedure.
Do You Really Need a Root Canal?
Good news! Not every painful or decayed tooth requires a root canal.
If your tooth can be treated with a simple filling, we will do only the filling. We recommend root canal treatment only when the decay, infection, or damage has reached the inner pulp of the tooth and a filling alone cannot save it.
We will examine your tooth, take an X-ray if necessary, show you the problem, and explain why an RCT is required or is not required. No unnecessary treatment and no surprises.
When You Need an RCT?
You may require root canal treatment if you experience:
Severe or continuous toothache
Pain while chewing or biting
Sensitivity to hot or cold that continues even after the stimulus is removed
Swelling near the tooth or gums
A pimple-like swelling on the gum
Deep decay that has reached the tooth’s nerve
A cracked, broken, or injured tooth
Darkening of a tooth
Sometimes, an infected tooth may not cause severe pain. A clinical examination and X-ray help us understand what is happening inside it.
What Happens During a Root Canal?
The procedure is straightforward:
Examination and diagnosis: We examine the tooth and take an X-ray when required.
Local anaesthesia: The area is numbed so that you remain comfortable during the treatment.
Cleaning the infection: The infected or damaged tissue is carefully removed from inside the tooth.
Shaping and disinfecting: The root canals are thoroughly cleaned, shaped, and disinfected.
Sealing the tooth: The cleaned canals are filled and sealed to prevent reinfection.
Restoring the tooth: Depending on the condition and strength of the tooth, a filling or crown may be recommended to protect it.
Worried About the Injection?
This is one of the most common fears patients have and usually, the fear is much bigger than the actual sensation.
The injection inside the mouth feels like a very small, quick pinch often less than a mosquito bite. Once the area becomes numb, the root canal procedure is performed comfortably. We also tell you before each step, proceed gently, and give you time whenever you need it.
Single-Sitting Root Canal Treatment
In suitable cases, root canal treatment can be completed in a single sitting. This means the cleaning, disinfecting, shaping, and sealing of the canals are completed during one appointment.
A single-sitting RCT can offer:
Fewer clinic visits
Less interruption to your routine
Faster completion of treatment
Timely relief from infection and discomfort
However, every tooth is different. Teeth with significant infection, swelling, complex canals, or other complications may require more than one sitting. We choose the approach according to what is safest and most suitable for your tooth not simply what is fastest.

Your Comfort Matters
It is completely normal to feel anxious before dental treatment. You can tell us if you are nervous, afraid of injections, sensitive to pain, or have had an uncomfortable dental experience in the past.
We will listen, explain the complete procedure in simple language, and move at a pace that feels manageable for you. You will always know what we are doing and why.
At White Castle Dental Clinic, the goal is to preserve your natural tooth whenever possible, recommend only the treatment you genuinely need, and make the experience much easier than the one you may be imagining.
